Reunion Itinerary and Announcements!

Friday, June 10:
- 8pm: informal meet-n-greet at Viva El Toro Restaurant (3443 Macon Rd; Columbus 31907)
- Come as you are and pay for your own (whether that be just a margarita, or dinner)

Saturday, June 11:

- 11:30am - 12:00pm: arrive at Lake Bottom Park’s Peach Little League fields for kickball and picnic - Hill Field off 18th street
- Bring-your-own picnic (swing by Subway, or coordinate with friends who are also coming)
- Family friendly
- You don’t have to play kickball to come and hang out
- 2pm - meet in front of CHS for a school tour!

- 7pm main reunion event (tickets required to attend - buy yours by Wednesday 5pm here: http://reunionmanager.net/class_members/registration.php?class_id=7308 )
- Location: Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center - Corner of East Lindsay and College Drive (on CSU’s campus)
- Night includes: photographers, food, dancing (DJ is spinning tunes from our high school years), slideshow of 500+ reunion pics, memorabilia table, guestbook to sign for future reunions, commemorative koozies. Drink tickets can be bought the night of, or on the registration site.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
- If you want drinks at the reunion, bring cash (no ATM on site)
- No need to print any tickets before you come - we’ll have a registration list at the door.
- Do not use the address online for the Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center - it will get you lost. Go to the corner of East Lindsay and College Drive.
- Plan to have a great time!

Need Your Help: Reunion Tee and Reunion Playlist!

Hi Classmates!

We're going to have CHS t-shirts available for purchase in advance of our reunion (and post-reunion if you're up for paying a small shipping fee).

We could do a basic reunion tee - or have something designed custom for our class. If you have some design savvy (professionally or as a hobby) and are interested in designing our reunion tee, send me a note - columbushigh2001@gmail.com.

Saturday Events - Family-friendly Picnic, Kickball, School Tour

(For those of you not on Facebook, here's what I just sent out)

Hi!

I hope this message finds you all well! Believe it or not, we're less than three months out from our high school reunion weekend! (Planned events will be Saturday, June 11, 2011).

Classmate Jackie Fitzpatrick has been diligently planning a family-friendly picnic, kickball tournament and school tour on Saturday during the day (thanks, Jackie!).

The picnic will be bring-your-own (food, drink and blankets). We'll camp out near the Peach fields at Lakebottom Park so we can sit on/around the bleachers and eat and watch kickball. Start time - 11:30am. (School tour time TBD)

If you are interested in playing kickball, e-mail Jackie at chs01kickball@gmail.com. Significant others and family are welcome to participate.

Things are also really coming together for our big night event. We'll be at the Elizabeth Bradley Turner from 7 to 11pm with heavy hors de oeuvres, a DJ, a photo slide show, koozies and more. Tickets are $42/person plus drinks, which you're encouraged to buy in advance so you don't have to bother with cash the night of. Reunion Registration Site Up! Details below

The Columbus High School Class of 2001 Reunion will be held the weekend of June 10, 2011 with the main event being the Saturday night gathering.

Saturday, June 11, we’ll get together at the Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center on CSU’s campus for cocktails, hors de oeuvres, photos from our high school years, music and dancing. (Attire: cocktail.)

The entrance fee is $42 per person – and you can decide how many drink tickets you would like to buy. (We are handling it this way because the venue does not allow all-you-can-drink wristbands or a cash bar.) Here’s what’s included in the cost of the per-person entrance ticket:

• Venue and simple decor
• Heavy hors de oeuvres
• DJ and dance floor
• Photo slideshow
• Memento/party favor

Everyone is welcome to bring a date (it’s not limited to spouses/partners). Just use the “spouse/partner” field to type in your date’s name.

Please note that drink tickets are $5 a piece in advance for liquor drinks and $4.50 for beer or wine. Drink tickets the night-of will be limited and will be: liquor $6.75/$7.75 (premium vs. top shelf), wine $5.50 and beer $4.50.

You can also elect to buy a reunion t-shirt (please e-mail columbushigh2001@gmail.com) with your t-shirt size.

If we have funds leftover, we will donate them to Suicide.org, a not-for-profit organization that provides counseling and resources to people who are considering ending their lives. Also feel free to send a separate donation to our Paypal account with “suicide prevention” in the memo line – and we’ll make a donation in honor of the classmates we’ve lost.

As far as the rest of the weekend goes, we’ll also plan for a family-friendly picnic Saturday (in addition to the big event Saturday evening). Please stay tuned for recommended hotels and a more firm agenda for the weekend.

We Have a Venue!

We have a venue officially reserved!

That may not sound like a big accomplishment, but it feels like one. Columbus has lots of nice venues but few that host 200+ people comfortably and that won't break the bank.

So we've settled on the Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center on CSU's campus.

Here's what I liked about The Turner Center:

• It's not far from where we went to school
• It's centrally located
• We can serve food and alcohol
• Dance floor is included
• It fits 200 - 250 people
• We can bring in our own caterer and choose our own menu (will be heavy appetizers so we can keep the cost manageable)
• They have experience hosting high school reunions (in fact, the Turner Center hosted the Columbus High class of 2000 reunion a few months ago)
• The management has been very communicative and professional

We'll be in the Founder's Hall (first floor)

Main room where we'll set up music, high-top tables, dancing, etc.

Additional space we may set up food in.

Soon we'll be announcing ticket prices and launching a site that makes registering and buying tickets easy.

Let's start collecting photos from our high school years -- to be used in a slideshow or the like.

Save the dates: June 10 - 12, 2011

How has it already been nearly 10 years since we graduated from Columbus High School? It feels like only months ago that we were walking the halls of our historic high school, dreading Broda's class (just kidding - Broda!) and crossing our fingers it was fried chicken day.  

It's with great excitement that we announce the dates of the Columbus High School Class of 2001 10-Year Reunion...
